For example(s): Why do people automatically assume that a Lexus is better than a Toyota? I’m pretty sure that both cars are useful and that the Toyota is just as convienent and (perhaps even more) durable than a Lexus. When you go shopping, why do you “have” to buy a shirt that has the logo of the brand slapped across the front when you can go to Target or Old Navy and get it for probably 1/16th of the price?

Basically what I’m asking is WHY has society become so wrapped up with materialistic goods and brand names? Your thoughts on if this is a dangerous trend…or maybe you do agree with conforming to society’s views?

I have Trend Anti-virus, and Webroot Spy Sweeper, that some good protection but this is big. I don’t know why but my CPU is now 100% and like 80% physical memory. So my computer is real slow. The worst part is I go to scan, and I know my subscription is not expired, I can’t scan, IT IN BOTH SPY SWEEPER AND TREND ANTI_VIRUS AND WINDOWS DEFENDER. IN SPY SWEEPER it disable every protection.

5. the reverse mullet short in back long in front usually covering one eye and usually cemented in place. It is dangerous to drive with hair like that obscuring your vision so quit endangering me!

4. Those thin almost rubberband head bands. They look a poor man hair net because the is no next. It also looks like a piece of scrap found in the trash and worn once as a joke and then somebody had to take it to far.

3. Sandals with jeans and more importantly sandals at a dance club! Good lord. You can’t dance in them and it make your dance partner worried they’ll step on your feet. But most of all people, especially guys manages to find the ugliest most colorless sandals on earth.

2. Boxers under a swim suit. I can assume this was done guys ***** wouldn’t be hanging out bare a pink when they sagged in their logo splattered bathing suit. But it looks stupid… like you forgot to take off your underwear when you change clothes.

1. As usual the ever lower pants. It says to me a the guy doesn’t know how to wipe his *** right so he’s trying to avoid the brown stain (also the reason he wears boxers). I don’t want to see your underwear anyway no matter how much you paid for it. And of course it forces you walk awkwardly ruining your posture in the long run. Lastly it indicates to prison inmates your are available for *** for that is the idea to sag pants originated. But mainly it just looks sloppy and stupid.

Now it is true that I believe this country is following a dangerous trend when it permits too great a degree of centralization of governmental functions. I oppose this–in some instances the fight is a rather desperate one. But to attain any success it is quite clear that the Federal government cannot avoid or escape responsibilities which the mass of the people firmly believe should be undertaken by it. Sharp Rise in Immigration-Related Kidnappings Prompts New Task Force

Number of Cases Has Increased At Least 324% since 2004

Facing a dramatic increase in kidnappings and other Latin American-style violence related to the illegal immigration crisis, County Andrew Thomas has created a new task force within the County Attorneys Office to combat this dangerous trend. So far this year, Valley police have submitted 204 cases in which a victim or victims were kidnapped and held for ransom. If the rate continues, there will be 275 such cases by the end of the year setting a record for Maricopa County.

As the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association has noted, this trend in violent crime has its roots in the illegal immigration crisis. For those cases in which kidnapping for ransom is the highest charge, 74% of

the defendants sentenced in 2007 in Maricopa County were found to be in the United States illegally. The sentencing range is typically between 7 and 15 years in prison. Violent kidnappings and worse have increasingly plagued law enforcement in Mexico and the nations border cities. On October 23, at least 10 people were killed in a gunfight in Nogales. Nogales and other Mexican border cities have become battlegrounds for Mexican drug cartels fighting to control smuggling routes into Arizona and other parts of the United States. To prevent this violence from spreading further into Maricopa County, the County Attorneys Office has reached out to Valley police by assigning specific prosecutors to handle these cases. Attorneys in the Special Crimes Bureau, which already handles the offices human-smuggling cases, have been tasked with cracking down on kidnappers. Three attorneys from that bureau have been designated to work with law enforcement much in the same way the offices Repeat Offender Bureau works with specially trained detectives.

Thomas stated, These kidnappings threaten the safety of neighborhoods all over the Valley. We have to stop this trend before the violence escalates. This problem is yet another unfortunate byproduct of the illegal immigration crisis, which jeopardizes the lives of not only U.S. citizens but also immigrants, legal and illegal.

Thomas was joined by Mark Spencer, president of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association. Spencer has called Phoenix the kidnapping capital of America because of the spike in violence associated with illegal immigration.

Here are some recent cases prosecuted this year by the County Attorneys Office:

On January 26, 2008 an 18-year-old Phoenix girl was kidnapped at gunpoint from her home. The kidnappers bound her hands and feet and held her against her will for four days. As the parents tried to negotiate the teens release, a second victim was kidnapped and after his family gave the kidnappers four vehicles he was released. He then led the police to the house where the Phoenix girl was held. Phoenix Police tracked down and arrested the suspects.
