It’s not hard to avoid drug or alcohol addiction. The main thing is to remember you have self control. Find something else to do that makes you happy. Get involved in doing something productive that doesn’t involve drugs or alcohol. Build things, do sewing, clean your garage or basement. Be helpful to others, ask an elderly neighbor if they need anything done. You get a good feeling from accomplishing things, not just sitting around doing drugs or drinking alcohol.
Don’t ever say to …

relapse occurs. The limbic system is a lot stronger than the cerebral cortex and will always overcome it. Imagine how your body would react if you stopped eating? You may be able to fight it off for a while but eventually your will power will subside and you relapse. Substitute food with drugs in the example I just gave and then you will see that it is not bull. This is why 99.9% of doctors classify addiction to drugs as a chronic disease.

When you overeat, the overeating associates with pleasure but, because the limbic system becomes dependent on overeating all the time, it slowly becomes associated with survival. When you don’t eat the fixed level of food your limbic system is used to one day, the limbic system senses fear which causes the body to subconciously associate this feeling with a threat to it’s survival. The body then reacts by overcoming the prefrontal cortex’s ability to control the craving and hence a…

No, you’re bogus. There are two parts of the brain. One is the prefrontal cortex which is responsible for higher intelligence such as having the ability to solve a math problem or being able to make a critical decision. The other is the limbic system which is responsible for 1-survival 2-pain and 3-pleasure. When you get hungry, that is your limbic system telling your prefrontal cortex to get food for survival.

there are also two different kinds of addicts. an addict like you who started taking because it was medically necessary and you became dependent on the prescribed meds.
the majority of addicts, however, chose to start taking by themselves. whether it be legal (alcohol, cigarettes) or illegal (heroin, coke, etc). the first type may be easily beaten. but the second type has some other reasons for using, and they are less easily treated.

totally bogus. addiction is life long. the physical addiction is tough enough to get through; the withdrawal is painful but short lived and treatable. getting off of the drugs is the easy part. getting back into life is the hard part, and the compulsion to return to the one thing that made it better is like a choking python around your neck.
the underlying reason(s) why people become addicts are what’s hard to treat.
you’re making an addiction video and take a drag off a cig during it? come on

Learn the facts
Addiction means loss of control!
If you have choice it means your not an addict.
The survival mode of the brain has been programed to put the fix first on the list of needs for survival; Above food, sleep, sex, and other basic needs. The frontal lobes shut down so all the information in the world is useless. However We can have experiences which reprogram the this survival part to avoid the fix at all cost!

This was an intimate video; it gave me a lot of confidence for the future. Don’t often find something like that on youtube

addiction is no disease… a disease is something you dont choose to have. people who are addicited to drugs and alcohol have very little self control and are weak. that is why they like to believe they have a disease to make themselves feel better. everybody can control what substances they put in their bodies. If you are weak you can get addicted to almost anything.

You have a couple good points and thats it……..it IS A DISEASE, what is a disease? something that is progressive, chronic and fatal…………… addiction is a disease.
Website content
If by “disease” you mean some mental illness the American gov and fed banks have been heavily funding, the facts show that all behavior is choice and upbrniging. No behavior is a disease or illness.
But in a profit-run field like America’s capitalist psychology field, they try to make everything sound lifelong and in need of expensive therapy 3 times a week at $100 a session, and all kinds of high priced medications.
It’s quite bogus.

You are 100% correct on ADD bullshit…and you make very good arguments about addiction….I still haven’t made up my mind about the “disease” or choice model……Great job though..
